Newbie - new car hunt

Hi all,

As I am in the process of buying my next new car, I thought I might as well join you lot and see how my MPG stacks up.

I have had a few new vehicles but this new one, Kia Niro, is a hybrid so I am intrigued at the figures I will get over my 25,000 miles/year.

I pick it up on the 21st September

Looking forward to happy motoring

Welcome to Fuelly, hopefully you will find some interesting information on here.

I see Kia are claiming around 73-74 mpg for the Niro hybrid, will be interesting to see how close real world mpg figures are.

Oliver.

I am getting the 1st Edition and the stated mpg is 62 - 64, with the help of Fuelly I will be able to monitor it properly.

Welcome to fuelly, by coincidence, I was watching Niro reviews last night. You should see about 50 to 55 MPG real World, but all depends on your driving style and journey type. Apparently the regen brakes are not as productive as those in a regular hybrid/EV. Looks an interesting car though, best of luck with the new purchase.

Draigflag, anything in excess of 50 will be fine by me.

Time will tell, it will be a case of 'Watch this space' LOL

50 is acceptable for a large vehicle like that, you may get more in a diesel if they made one. But Considering some hybrids are seriously over-rated in the lab tests, i'd be more than happy with 50, it's not much lower than the official ratings.

To be fair, of the reviews I've read so far, the car journo's are reporting 60-65 MPG, so the real world figure seems pretty good. They also praise the twin clutch gearbox, which has gear change paddles, instead of the awful CVT's some hybrids have.

Its a nice looking car. Kia seem to be the more together part of Hyundai. Never driven the "flappy paddle" style, still no complaints with the CVT though. Good luck!
