I survived the 5th gear upgrade in a cabbie. Took out a tall 5th gear from a gls at u-pull-it for cheap. The step from 4th to 5th was huge, but if you are on the hiway a lot then it is a decent compromise.

a ratio chart might help (note these are not all diesels):

Photos

Hey:

Attached are photos of my 1983 tercel re-nose work.

I do not have a picture of the first model. The first couple (num 2 and 3)I attached my "alterations" to existing bumper and grill parts. For the last couple (num 4 and 5) I removed the bumper cover and grill and relocated the turn signals. Number 4 had plastic sleds for an undertray, which did not last too long, it was not supported well. Number 5 was the best, had a plastic sled duct to direct air to the radiator and as you can see, I also added driving lights, the 100w high beams are not enough in upper Michigan at night..so I tossed in another 200w for fun, alternators became a disposable item after that addition. The last (num 6) was not completed, it sported a full nose tray that would stay attached and required only six attach bolts, it would have been a beauty.

Enjoy!!

Mileage is going up

My last tank improved, I started experimenting with engine off coasting. Neat.
