Thanks, I almost forgot about this movie... I have to re-watch it.

To be on topic, I simply don't care how odometers and my logs diverge: the odo/tripmeter is not accurate enough to regard the lost fractions to begin with. Lately I correct every distance by +2% in my logs. Last time I checked the difference between Teresa's trip meter and km signs along a Czech motorway was ~2.5%, so I'm still conservative here (let's say there's room for tire wear). In the YARDIS' log I used -3% before tire replace because they were of smaller diameter than the factory 155/80-13.

Add some distance I coast down the hill we live without even turning the key, and some lost distance when the dashboard happens to revert to the last 'saved game' on using the starter after EOCing (both in Teresa's case)... all in all, I don't even care what the odometer shows, it's good for nothing apart from schedule maintenance, where a few percent difference doesn't really matter.

Funny that these problems don't affect our other bike... Ciliegia's odometer is spot on, and being mechanic it counts key-off coasts and does no software tricks, ever In this case, I could worry about the fractional kms, but I fail to care about <100m over 4-500km tanks

edit. Oh I forgot to mention that even fuel logging sites can introduce a little inaccuracy when they convert between different units
