All about acetone in fuel

This is all about the use of acetone in gas. I did some serious research about this and even played with different levels mixed in my fuel. The problem I had was that i couldn't find straight gas it was always mixed with something. I would like to know if anyone else has tried it with results.

What kind of results did you get? Did it improve mileage at all?

I think because of the Ethanol in the fuel I never saw much of a difference. Yet the people that I was reading about were getting quite a difference in mileage.

acirrone, did you intend to include a link with your post? It'd be interesting to read some info about this.

I've heard (not 100% sure about it) that long term use of acetone in your fuel system can degrade your fuel lines and various seals throughout the fuel system. I'm not sure if the effect is any worse than the 10% ethanol they already put in all of my gas

I read this too. I found that acetone is nothing more than another solvent like gasoline. I used acetone for a month or so and never had any problems with my fuel system.

I have also read that acetone works so well because it weakens the surface strength of the gasoline and allows it to burn quicker and hotter. This is why is provides better mpgs. Ethanol strengthens the surface of gasoline decreasing emitions yet ruining gas mileage.

I tried it for about a month or so. It was recommended to use about 3 oz per 10 gallons of gas. So each fill up I would put about 3 - 4 oz in my tank. Never experienced any problems with using it, though I never experienced any mileage gains either.
