Anyone around with a Crown Victoria or a Grand Marquis. They respond very well to simply keeping the speed @ 70 & under. I imagine hypermiling you could do even better. I get 27 or 28 highway in my Grandfather's Grand Marquis, and I don't do anything special when I drive it, just keep the speed under 75.

I go through a tank a week and planned on making my first modification(s) for economy this weekend. When I read 'Team Tank' I think of a team of vehicles with a GVWR of more than 6000 pounds but there probably isn't enough people here to do that haha.

Is the challenge for MPG numbers or % above epa? If it's MPG I might bring you down but if it's % above epa I should stand a chance.

Edit: Read the rules, I'm in! % improvement is great!

Yeah, as soon as winter is over I'll hopefully be turning some better numbers. Running in 4wd mode in below freezing temps is not exactly the best thing for mileage...

Too bad the Eldorado is probably too small (the post '79 downsized version) and it's not a truck...if my Lincoln Town Car still ran (toasted transmission) it would be fine...it's just a Crown Victoria with delusions of World Domination...

The Eldorado is a 4.1 V8, right? I'd have no problems with you on the team.

I'm on the fence here.

I have a big ol' Buick (well technically mid-size), but I'm doing well to get 15 MPG on the highway. It's mostly a performance beast, but I also like to "strive" for MPG.

Pic:

It gets MUCH better MPH than its peers at the racetrack, but it might be a tough one to get lots of MPG from...

So what is a tank then? My brother has a '73 LeSabre which weighs 1300# more than my econobox... THAT is a tank. But could a 4300# 4-door count as a tank for this?

I'm thinking about some changes to shoot for 18 MPG (highway), including some taller tires and aero mods. If I go from 15 MPG to 18 MPG, that's a 30% increase, right?

Car is off the road now, I'll start driving it in April...

I think even my Regal (considered a midsize in 1981), with a curb weight of almost 3,300 pounds, and a 3.8 Litre V-6 is considered a tank by today's standards.
