best milage WITH bike on back :)

well, i took the advise & kept my ride off the top of the car. I bought a hatch mounted setup that works pretty smoothly.

so i put my bike & an extra set of wheels mounted on the back & headed up to (almost) Burlington, Vt for my first cyclocross race of the season (3hrs away).

Almost all highway miles going about 60mph. I filled up on the way back & much to my surprise it calc'd out at a whopping 44.2mpg!! nice

I may leave the bike on there a little more. hehe

i did 'ok' i still have to take it VERY easy due to my injuries. i cant take ANY risks... which basically means i cant race hard.
that being said, i finished 17th. fitness-wise i absolutely could have been top10... but i lost alot of time being careful on the slick, muddy turns & decents.

i crashed once & it scared the poop out of me. im ok though.

Damn, you must be a beast. It has been a little rainy up here lately, I do quite fancy it, but that's another story.

Perhaps you could find a way to mold your rack into a partial boattail,
