Question CRX Hf shell/VX engine/tranny?

Hi guys. I was thinking about buying crx shell ($800) and buying brand new vx engine and installing it into crx hf body. Engine cost is $350. Not sure how to go about getting a HF tranny. Maybe brand new aftermarket tranny to HF specs? Is there something like that out there? Is VX tranny or are there any other honda tranny's manual that are same gear ration (tall gears) as HF gears? How much do u guy think installation cost (rough estimate) would be for all that? Is this worth a hassle? How many MPG would this frankenstine get? I figure VX gets 49 but it's 200lbs heavier then CRX HF so VX engine can get 52mpg+ if it would be in CRX body? Any replays would be very much appreciated.

The CRX would be more aerodynamic than the VX, but then you'd also need to buy the VX ECU, EGR box and likely a wiring harness. A decent honda shade tree mechanic would likely charge you at least $600-1000 for the labor of the swap and custom work if you delivered all of the needed parts to their shop.

I honestly don't know how much they would go for.

It might make sense if you could do all of the work yourself.

I took a look around craigslist and you may be able to find one for a couple hundred. And if you can do the work on this, go for it, very worth the extra mpg's!
