Did not expect this tank to be good!!

I just filled up this tank and I really thought it would suck. I hammered it on the highway(driving at 80MPH , with AC) , carried a couple hundred pounds for 70 miles and I even had a tire that was way lower than my normal psi. TO my surprise I filled up and it was my all time best of 43.1

The only thing I started to do differently is that I don't lug the car as much as I used to in 2nd gear. I apply more gas and get the rpm's up to 2500 or so rather than under 2thou like I used to. My numbers used to dip a lot but since switching they barely drop in 2nd gear- I'm a big scanguage fan

has this ever happened to any of you??

Yes, that happend on my last tank(kinda). I kept a mental note of my previous fill up reading and as the odometer kept rolling, estimated in my head. Well, I was remembering the wrong number for the previous tank and cheating myself nearly 100miles. I figured I just barely beat my old record but in reality I bet it by about 23mpg.

I'm getting the same thing on this tank. I really flogged my car early in the tank and have been letting revs creep up to 22-2500 before shifting instead of my normal 2k. And yet, I got 150mi out of the first half-tank, where normally I get 135-140.

I had some problems with my car a couple of weeks ago which I just fixed, so it may also be that I fixed some kind of chronic problem I never knew I had when I fixed the other problem. Either way, something's changed for the better.
