So HC, your VW does not go in open loop in that situation (low rpm, WOT)?
And your VW has DBW (just as my Civic). I never paid attention to TPS sensor. I also accellarate with a good push on the throttle, but I don't floor it completely in my car.
I know exactely what you want to explain me. But I was not clear on one thing: I talk about situations where indeed a lot of top BHP is demanded from the engine. That's the typical customer for high performance, high flow air filters.
I'm very well aware of pumping losses and how to avoid them (low rpm, well opened throttle). My Civic drives a lot of miles in 6th gear, also with very good results.

Correct, my VW does not go into open loop. I am told that the wideband O2 sensor makes that possible, and other wideband-equipped vehicles (instead of the more common narrowband) also behave that way.
