How come no one Hypermiles with their VXes?

I had the full belly pan on both the Del Sol and the VX. The Insight OEM tires made a measureable difference, about 3 MPG IIRC. Yes, lots of EOC in the hills of PA.

Dan what size were the Insight tires you used on the VX? Also, VX wheels, or HX?

HX wheels, 165/65/14 Bridgestone Potenza's. This size only is LRR. This is what was on the Honda Insight.

what mileage were you hypermiling your VX to?

I couldn't even pull close to the mileage that Dan was with the VX. Definately the master. The best mpg I did was 60 something (66?) driving it home when I bought it. That was drafting trucks till I got to DC. Still kind of wish I didn't sell it.

I assume you tested your odometer's accuracy?

Also, you weren't hypermiling. You were cruising on the highway between 55 and 75mph. I drive between 35 and 50mph with mild hypermiling techniques and I get about 54mpg which isn't even above the old EPA. I wonder how much difference LRR tires will make and 60 PSI.

The SuperMID I was using showed % of distance with the engine on. Mine would show about 50% on my daily commute. So for 25 of the 50 miles, the engine was off, coasting. I spent lots of time choosing the route. Climb steep hills, coast down for miles. Never had to use the brakes. Sweet!
