Nice idea but won't work for all cars. In my car the lower half of the radiator and the return hose to the engine is cool to the touch even after hard highway miles. The heat that probably is in that water is mostly due to the transmission cooler.

What about using heat pipes like computers use? You could even connect those to the exhaust system and get faster heat up times since the heat pipe will only get to a certain temp before the water inside completely vaporizes and it no longer transfers heat.

I would be worried about doing this mod on a car that isn't a 'return free' fuel system. A full tank of gas at ambient heated to 160 could very well cause the fuel to expand beyond the capacity of the tank(probably more of an issue when you fill the tank and it's 17 degrees outside). On a return free fuel system the fuel also moves slower and will heat up better.

I pull 435 for a double...but I'm 54, so I doubt I'll see much more than that. That was a few months back at 215 lbs. I'm at 200 now.

I like it, My idea was backwards compared to yours, I had planned on taking the heat to the fuel rail but you have taken the fuel to the heat source, very nicely done as well.

How different does the engines performance feel once the engine is warm or hot?

On the heat exchanger I put together to go on Wile-E the heater hose comes fairly near the fuel lines, so it's not major plumbing to get one to the other.

I built my own which was similar to the one from water4gas.com and it didn't work at all... after first installing it I drove it for a very short while before deciding I should top it off because of the difference the couple of miles I had driven before installing it could make. So my result from that fill up was 23.6 mpg which has been basicly my average and my best had been 24.5 mpg so I gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried it for a half a tank (about 8 gal for me) and received a reading of 22.3 mpg. This was a definite step back for me so I removed it and am now pissed that I'm out nearly 40 dollars for that damn thing. Plus cutting into my fuel line was a gutsy move for someone who has very little automotive repair experience. so my 91 volvo 740 will remain as it was without the heater (a 3 jar hho gen and roughly 1oz acetone per 10 gal). yeah maybe it works on some cars I'll give ya that, but for the cost I WOULDNT SUGGEST IT unless you have the exact same car as "chope" here (personaly I feel betrayed chope I trusted you)
