HC is right, unless you have a car with automatic climate control, the compressor runs just as much on max as it does on low.

i have only had 2 vehicles with working a/c, one a cherokee, AC only used when wife/mother was in the vehicle. now i have a beetle TDI with ac, the difference is Mississippi Summer heat, +95?F +80%rH, means nothing will cool you effectivly at any speed or airflow. Mornings i run without a/c with just the vent on and the sunroof popped up in the rear. afternoons there isn't much choice.
