its fine IF there is no sensor after the cat and it has a stock muffler on it.

i took mine off my chevette and it still gets 40mpg...not sure what u did joe bob... i have retuned the carb and lowered the idle to 200-300 rpm and also disabled the egr valve.

its not that loud, at slow idle sounds like a desil

According to 95% of the people that seem to find their way here, you'll lose FE because of a loss of back-pressure.

If you do remove the cat go with a down-pipe also. Open up the intake filter, keep the muffler. On my vr4 i gutted all the precats, 3 inch down pipe, removed the cat,put on Super Medallion from Tanabe, replaced stock plastic intake pipes with bigger HKS hard pipes, SS intake pipes, fuel management, EBC Etc. As you guessed this is mainly a track car and $$$ is for power. Just removing your cat may do a little but may not be worth it,but with the other items you will gain FE but at what cost?

Don't know what happened...the car got over 30mpg when I first got it, my wife was driving one day and got rear-ended. Bent the car back into shape, it drove nice and straight, alignment shop said everything was fine, exhaust system was fine, engine was fine...but mileage dropped to 20 mpg. Sold that car in '95, probably been shaving with it from not long thereafter...

I pulled the "barrel looking" 2nd cat. on the '07 Suzuki SX4. The pre-cat off the manifold, has the before and after 02 sensors, so no worries about throwing a CEL. It may be a good idea to disconnect the negative on the battery to reset the ECU for this mod.

Expect to see a slight HP and MPG increase. How much so, really depends on your specific engine.

I'm seeing around 25 MPG city driving, which is a few MPG's above the typical SX4 iAWD auto's average.

On some newer systems the rear 02's can effect fuel mixture trims. I don't know all the models? I am not an expert on it. Just the small change in back presser with effect it.

removing the CAT will not damage the engine, not even if its connected by wires to your engine management.
