Re: My New N/A Del Sol Project

More testing and it looks like the best this combination will do is around
65mpg@60mph and 55mpg@70mph (with an car with around the same Cd) This is at a 17:1 A/F ratio. Anything over 17:1 it drops in FE. There's no
miss-fire all the way up to 19:1, but anything over 17:1 is useless.

So if any wants to have a VX Lean Burn type Honda without owning a VX I can help.

The things you will need are

1)socked ecu.
2)Wide band
3)Ostrich or a chip burner
4)Free version of CROME

Pics of it almost done.

Just need to find some VX wheels and some front fog lights and a few little things and I'm done with this project.

You should really consider getting the orginal Insight Wheels and the matching Bridgestone RE92 tires, which are considered among the lowest RR tires available.

I never thought of Insight wheels. Thanks for the info.

14" wheels give you many more options for tires. The 165-65x14 RE92 being the premier choice I just put them on my car, along with a zero toe allignment and it coasts so much better.

Re: My New N/A Del Sol Project

I really like your idea and yes its a lot easier to find 14" tire combo's. As of right now this car has a perfect alignment and can coast for ever. But some FE tires would be nice.

I'm also considering putting a turbo on this engine. I know from my other builds this would gain me the most in FE. Or start another car build with a killer areo-package and turbo-charge it?

Your projects seem pretty legit man, I'd like to see you really work something over as for aero, then drop your FE built engine in there and hit some triple digits.

Re: My New N/A Del Sol Project

I would encourage you to push the envelope for N/A, but being N/A I am biased Although I have a TD04HL-13T sitting on my garage floor

I'm wondering how far you have pushed your AFR without the pre-chamber? I can easily go up to 17.5:1, but loose too much power to pull up hills, so I usually keep it around 16.5:1. This is all on a stock engine with stock tuning. I haven't been able to base line my new combo, because it is too cold. But I'm expecting around 65-70mpg instant readings at 50-55mph.

Thanks.

I'm leaning more towards the building of an extreme aero car. It will have custom built roof quarters and rear section. I'm looking at a CRX body or a 91 Civic. It will be powered by my extra VX engine with a 13b turbo.

18:1 A/F is the best this engine did while still making decent power. It could run as lean as 19:1 but would start miss-firing anything above that.

The turbo 1.6L pre-chamber engine can climb a decent grade at 19:1 without any issues and go way past 22:1 at light load.

The cold weather is big factor and to tell you the truth I just gave up and I'm also waiting for warmer weather.
