My VX returns

My buddy bought my VX last December. He has had medical problems and wants to sell the car back to me, so I agreed to give him $3500 for it.

It has about 48 k original miles now. Will sell the Echo and keep the Insight.

regards
Gary

I'd love for my Bonneville wagon to return to me, but that's probably never gonna happen.

A lot more than I bought it back for, by $2000. Now I have to sell the Echo. Might be able to break even on that, if I can get close to $3500 for the Echo.

It wasn't my idea, but given the choice, the VX should be good for close to 10 MPG better and it has AC although I practically never use it.

The VX has 48k miles and the Echo has 77k.

regards
Gary

Arrow

A/C is a good choice. Maybe its the sticky, gross, humid summers we get here in the DC area, but I have absolutely no tolerance for a vehicle that does not have a functioning air conditioner. The A/C even works on The Big White Hooptie.

I remember that VX. It was a '95 that was the insurance rebuild. If you ever wish to sell it, let me know. Although I would not like to have a vehicle with a salvage title, that is one nice looking car.

I look forward to seeing it online again soon.

Salvage titles scare a lot of people. Actually it was a 94 made in 9-93. Still has the original paint on the roof and it looks great.

He only drove it 4k miles.

I sold it after I bought the Insight, and sold the Mercedes later (230 SLK). I like the gearing on the VX much better than the Echo.

The VX was hit in the rear, so most of the damage was behind the rear suspension, in the trunk area where there are no real critical parts. Also stored inside for 13 years, so it is like a time capsule. Most 3-4 year old cars have the same mileage.

I probably won't sell it again, since I now have much less money than I originally had in the car. Hope I can get it back to close to 60 MPG, but the mileage dropped off a lot when I changed the original tires.

Never had a radio in it either, just AC and a passengers mirror.

Picking it up in the morning.

regards
Gary

I recommend the Michelin Destiny tires I have on my VX (see Red Round). Quiet, lots of grip, and absolutely no wear after 20K miles (and I have done a few burnouts on them just to show skeptics that the VX is capable of doing one). My 223,000 mile '95 has produced tanks of over 55 mpg, with a high of 66 mpg last spring.

Picked it up this morning and filled the tank. Drove 327.2 miles today and topped the tank off. Took 5.5 gallons but I spilled some letting it overflow slightly.
Looks like 60 MPG, averaging right at 65 MPH on the Interstate. Some traffic leaving DC area tonight.

Last year 11-22-08 my last fill was 47 MPG. I think it was much colder this time in November. It does seem like the tires have worn in enough for the mileage to get back to where it was before or at least very close. No WAI or any other mods. 400 pounds for me and my passenger.

She is a keeper.

Yep HC I do some buying and selling. Now I have the Insight for local trips and the VX for the highway.

Wife crunched the front end on her Rogue. Didn't get a ticket but she is devastated. Last accident for her was in a 73 VW about 25 years ago.

Now I need to sell the Echo .

regards
Gary
