Thanks Metro ! Looks like I'm about 1/2 way there lol - a 47 pales in comparison to the Elite in the Top 10 , but it does feel great none the less .

Well, my #s aren't nearly as high, and I am not even the all that for my vehicle, but I just posted a 39 mpg tank! My best so far.

14 mpg improvement from the beginning of May to the end of June is nothing to scoff at ...and 4-0 is *right there* .

Gassed up for 80.2mpg (708.2miles/8.83gal). This entire tank was interstate driving doing 60 to 65mph on I-26 running from SC up to Asheville, NC.

NEW personal best today on the way home from work. Here's the info :

MPG : 49.0 (old best was 48.1, so a 1.8% increase)
Route : 105 East -> 710 North -> 10 East -> exit freeway -> North on Rosemead
Miles : 36.4
MPH Avg : 43
MPH Max : 70
Net Elevation change : ~788 feet up (+210 on freeway, +578 on streets)
Weather : 65.5+ degrees F, Clear, 73% Humidity, 56.5 degrees F Dew Point
Time : ~9:22 PM to ~10:10 PM, ~48 minutes

Hypothesis : Traffic was ok, but kind of fast for good MPG. I was at 53.1 MPG when I exited onto Rosemead, and I think that is my best to date. I tried the Saturn IAT resistor mod today. I used a 220 Ohm resistor that reports a steady 200 degrees F IAT to the ECU/PCM. Since we haven't hit hot dry August temperatures yet, the IAT mod could have made the difference. I do not plan to maintain this mod unless I can verify that I am still California emissions compliant. This is a test of the emergency MPG system. This is only a test.

Another big change is the new tires. Calculations show that it should give me a 0.5 to 0.75 MPG jump, which is within the range of what happened tonight. However, since I went from "end of tread" tires to brand new tires, the jump may be greater than 1 MPG. If yes, then this would make the IAT mod moot.

Time : ~11:00 AM to ~11:30 AM, ~30 minutes

Recent Car Changes : New tires and 220 Ohm resistor simulating 200 degrees F IAT.

Hypothesis : I think the tires are making the difference, but the % difference is too small to make a real conclusion. I don't think the IAT mod made any difference. The traffic was a little too pushy at the end, or I think I would have been able to hit 60 MPG. Oh well, something to shoot for next time .
