Yes, I was hoping that that

Yes, I was hoping that that post would remind you about the programming DIY.

I had a dream last night..... I was driving on the highway at 55MPH. But instead of the usual 2200 RPM the tach was reading only 1700rpm!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I died and went to heaven. Then I woke up.

Don't worry, I'm dedicated

Don't worry, I'm dedicated to getting the damn transmission. I've decided to put that hole engine in my car anyway.

test run

Hey I did the Ocean Drive test run today. This is the first time with full Synlube use - got 56.2mpg using gas with ethanol in it too. I got the green light in both directions and made one extra stop to check the oil drain pan in the trunk and I started with the engine at 150 degrees instead of stone cold 50-60 degrees so a few more runs is in order but still a very good run when I usually get in the low to mid 40's.

i have adopted a "test

i have adopted a "test route" too: the same one that gave me those 80+ mpg runs. 7.3 miles. city, suburban, exurban combo. 2 really good hills, 4 ok hills. 6 traffic lights, 7 stop signs.

i tried for a record today, since it was probably the warmest day so far this year. i was on track for 85 mpg (US) when some doofus turned out in front of me at the bottom of my best hill. lots of braking resulted and made me miss a green light.

(probably pissed me off as much as i piss off other people who occasionally get held up by my slow-*** driving!)

got an 81.x instead. tank average is around 68 so far (indicated).

Miles

The GPS records 12.4 miles for the trip around Ocean Drive. If I get the track on the right computer I can post a photo of the route. It is still a legit run as I leave and return to the same spot - kept the engine running all the time. I have noticed the engine sound quieter and the tranny shifts easier. Have a run north into head winds that kept teh mpg at 42 plus a lot of stop and go traffic. I also noticed that the MPG reads a little different when coasting in neutral like a lot higher and fluxuating between 220 and 120 mpg.

Just finished my commute to work with the stock ecu. 50F, dry roads, winds light and variable. I made all of the critical lights so this run will compare well to my 71.12 personal best.

At the first milestone (approx 4 miles), I was at 109 MPG, vs 116 MPG. Clearly suffering from the richer ECT compensation.

The second milestone (approx 8 miles) I was at 63.7 vs 64.9. Now that the engine has warmed up I begin to close the gap.

The third milestone (approx 12 miles) I was at 89.2 vs 90.0.

The fourth milestone (approx 18 miles) I was at 69.1 vs 68.5. This is the uphill highway stretch at 45-55 mph. No drafting other than when cars and trucks pass by. Possibly the chipped ecu suffers here due to power loss from pinging caused by overadvanced ignition. No pinging today.

The fifth milestone (approx 21 miles) I was at 69.4 vs 69.0.

I pulled into the parking space at 71.7MPG. A new personal best for the morning commute.

The next step would be to remove some advance from the chipped ecu and see if it makes a difference. SVOboy will be doing a DIY so I will wait for that.
