short trip after long run yesterday

Hey just figured out when my MPG jumps to double is when the GPH drops from .2 GPH to .1 GPH not sure what makes that happen but maybe as the engine breaks in more it will burn less fuel at idle.

Just did a 52.3mpg run returning from home - 48.2mpg today Home and back with a stop, engine temp dropped to 137F some highway.

Engine was running a little mushy at first throttle not responsive and mpg dropping to 30's on level ground - played with the gas pedal a little backing it off and it seemed to respond a little better after the engine got hot.

Its a hard engine to drive. That took some really slow speeds and extreme messures.

Oh yeah, but it's got the technology. It's so much better than vtec-e, so much. I wish they made a 1.5 version, it'd be ridic.

I wish more would show up with r18 powered cars that are hypermiling them. Theres so much not understood about them and possible technique. The tech in the engine is clear. But how to max it out isnt clear. It would seem its quite easy to do EPA even driving the car hard and running the A/C. It is focused in design. It should have been a lean burn engine with the reduced compression volume valve timing. Twin cam design with some real fun v-tec on the high end.

DOHC can get the hell out of here!

Anyway, lean-burn it should've been, it's funny how cool the intake timing works, SO cool. Wicked smart honda people, OMGosh.

My 97 4x4, 2dr, 350ci, auto, Tahoe would go 90 to full, about 300 to quarter, 70 to E. With the Halos 200 to full, and now I've go 403 miles on the tank and I'm a needle above 1/2! Instead of 460-480, I think I might be able to squeak 600 out of this tank!

I had to make another Ft. Smith run today. The SG was showing 50 mpg for the day when I parked it today.

I just drove the Civic into work this am. My normal 40 mile drive in. The SG posted a 52 mpg number for the drive in. This raised the tank ave. to 50.3 mpg. Air temp was 65F when I left the house this am.

I raised the tire pressures up to 50 psi about two weeks ago from 44 psi I had been running for months. Really didnt see a increase at all on the mpg.

I installed the engine belly pan and its in the 50 mpg range. HUMMM. I knew there was alot of air getting up into the engine compartment but never guessed it would be that much. If this trend continues I will be looking into getting the HCHII's undertay panels for the engine and the two that go under the passenger compartment.
