I was wondering the same thing. The misting devices (ceramic disc) are cheap on eBay, but all are 24 volts AC. However, my alternator has a 24 VAC connector for the choke heater. Might be worth investigating.

I know from reading the service manuals from my Buick that the Regals with the opera lights on the sides had 110vac to power the opera lights. I have no idea why though... seems to me you could have a 12vdc lightbulb do the same thing.

Yes, not too uncommon to run the choke heaters from an extra tap on the alternator. It comes off the center of the "Y" before the diodes. It is easy to spot because of the shielded wire to prevent radio interference.

That year also had an option for a second alternator that produced 120 VAC for defrosting the gold plated windshield. (not joking). I think it was called the Sierra package. Looking under the hood I can't imagine where the second alternator was installed.

Yes. Tinted even.

It is an oddball. That is why I have kept it. Has disc anti-lock brakes on four wheels among other things. I have checked every 75-76 I have ever seen and this is the only one I have found. Downside is the power steering pump runs the brakes.

Back to the topic... does anyone know for sure that the little ceramic disc type misters will work on gasoline? I had no luck running one on distilled water. It required tap water. That makes me suspect that a certain amount of conductivity is required that may not be provided by gasoline.

Strange, they should just be piezo elements like the beepers in the back of watches, but driven by a higher frequency, can't see why distilled water would not work.

For ultrasonics in my cars, I'm putting pits 1mm to 2mm deep done with a 1/16 drill bit at points of high airflow near the injectors. According to helmholtz resonator theory these should resonate in the ultrasonic and potentially break up large fuel droplets.

In a carbed or TBI motor, I'd look at putting them in the area above and below the throttle plate, as this is where flow should be fastest at small throttle openings.

I remember The RoadWarrior..To understand who he was, you have to go back to another time..the world was powered by the black fuel & the desert sprouted great cities..Gone now, swept away..two mighty warrior tribes went to war & touched off a blaze which engulfed them all. Without fuel, they were nothing..thundering machines sputtered & stopped..Only those mobile enough to scavenge, brutal enough to pillage would survive. The gangs took over the highways, ready to wage war for a tank of juice
