Good point, however I don't usually let it idle. It is usually either running in gear or engine off coasting.

I will wait and see what kind of readings I get from the onboard computer that should be atleast somewhat set up this week sometime.

can someone with a service manual tell me where the idle-speed control is? Or maybe cfg can post up one of those pics for me.

Well I was hoping you could tell me its location. What is that picture of? Its not the throttle body from the early sohc is it?

Just curious, my car is (on the title) an SSL. I assume this means it is the SL1. I thought it was kind of odd. Did the change the name from SL1 to SL at some point down the road?

how much power does the saturn have?

I am pretty sure it's the throttle body. It may be an early or late version, I don't know. Here it is on my DOHC :

I think this is the idle control valve :

...

This puts it close to the firewall on my DOHC, very hard to get at.

Also, here's a closeup picture :

Does the TPS on my car have 3 wires?...

The background is the firewall.

For my DOHC, just follow the air intake tube until you reach the throttle body, and look between the throttle body and the firewall. It's hiding back there.

MY sohc has 100hp. Cfg83 has a dohc which is 126ish hp. So, not much. Look on the bright side I can do 0-60 in ten seconds. No 3 cyl metro can touch me. LOL.

CFG thanks for the pics I think I can find it now. The first pic had me lost. I haven't spent much time under the hood of this car. I've spent more time under it trying to find and replace the oil filter.

I should have mentioned that when I say it has excess power, that is coming from driving a 2 ton vehicle with a 140 horsepower engine.

The early single cam engines have throttle body injection and only put out 84 or 85hp. Then when they went to mpfi the hp jumped to 100.

Oh that would probably be much different. I can't imagine that though I'm used to about a 12 or 13 pounds per horsepower haha.

I'd say a sohc saturn is comparable to your g20 in everyday use. I've driven my fair share of SR powered cars. The saturn would probly loose in a long race though.

derange how many miles are on the g20? I would think that it could do better than 21mpg. Auto or manual? I bet it needs an o2 sensor replaced.

The SR20 is a pretty good motor. It can be really sensitive to the weather though, for example, on cold days it feels wayyy more powerful. I know any car will experience this since cold air is denser, but the change is way more then other cars I've driven through the seasons. I really want a DET motor!

Creeping up on 80k. It's an automatic, and as far as gas mileage I just hate how slow it is so I used to be rather liberal with the gas. The current tank I'm on I'm hypermiling and so far the needle hasn't even dropped below "F" and I've gone close to 50 miles. I haven't checked the O2 sensors, but I'm getting it in for service in a couple of weeks when I have my fall break (since I won't have school I can drive my other car daily) and I'll probably have them check it out.
