Yup, the older VW had a 21 gallon tank where mine is listed as 14.5. Lug what does yours hold?

Since you've filled with at least 3 gallons this round, you can retire the car for the Cycle and go with the average you have up to now...

But for the next round...

How long is the car to be out? Since someone else is the Daily Driver for an extended period, a new 3.00 to ~5.00 gallon baseline for Cycle 2 has to be established within 42 days; otherwise, there would be a 5% penalty for a missing member if it's longer than that.

BTW, what kind of Van and how many miles? That's harsh...

The Commish

Its a ford windstar, she took a plane trip, came home 2 weeks later and started the van and that was it:mad: Kinda weird. It has like 170k on it.
Her local mechanic is going to get a junkyard motor and install it for her, all for only $1,300  sounds like a good deal to me.

Will keep you posted as to new developments.

That would have been nerve racking. Good driving, the list of people with a 1000 mile tank must be short!!

3.0l?

Bummer -- I know the 3.0L versions a few years back had some head gasket problems.

Last fill for the cycle. A new tank and mileage record for the mighty Woo.
505.2@45.98 mpg Still had 1.7 gallons remaining. Nice note to finish on.

Go team OB!

MetroMPG 05-15-2007 08:06 AM

Z - nice! I like how you include avg speed in your gaslog too.

kickflipjr 05-17-2007 11:14 AM

Numbers in on the saturn wagon.

322.2 Miles
9.711 Gallons
33.17 MPG

That isn't great mpg but it isn't horrible either.

CO ZX2 05-17-2007 01:29 PM

Fill update week 6.

CO ZX2: Filled 8.499 gallons, 755.6 miles, 88.9 mpg, SG tank avg 42 mph.

Alternator off for about half the trips, carried a spare battery and changed for returns. First tank since transmission gear change.

I have used the night warming regimen described in V.1.0 religiously every night, all night for this whole tank. Moved the engine oil pan heater to the transmission and used both engine heaters and the insulation each night. It is getting warmer here but we still see 25-40 degree F. nights.

Still making aero tweaks, including a 3 inch extension to my air dam. It is now less than 2 inches off the ground but flexible. I live on a dirt road that gets pretty rough at times and haven't ripped it off yet.

GasMisers Team members: This is the final week of this cycle. All of you have the required fill for this cycle, but please report any additional fills to me in time to make a timely report. Fills must be made before midnight Sunday 5/20/07 to count. Go GasMisers5!!!
