VX Tires?
Hi Folks, New member, great site and forum. Just bought a 95 VX here in Maine. It needs tires. Searching past posts I read folks are using Dunlops, Nokian, Vesdrestein Quatrac 2, and Sumitomo HTR T4. Some are using stock sizes and some are using 175's. Need some suggestions for FE, low noise, and traction. Thankshttps://www.gassavers.org/images/smilies/smile.gif

If you checked the right posts, then you've got all the info you're looking for. From what I've read and from experience with my Sumitomo HTR T4, I think your best bet for traction and FE is the Quatrac 2.
One correction to your post, the Nokian NRT2 has not been available for a couple of years (I think I mentioned this in one of the posts you read). In fact, Nokian does not make a 13" tire for the North American market anymore because there's not enough demand for it. |
I am on the verge on buying a set of Sumitomo HTR T4 in the correct VX size of 165/70-13 from Tirerack.com
A curious side note Majestic Honda offers the original equipment Dunlop's |
Thanks for the info!

I am currently driving a Saturn SL that uses 175/70 R14 and wanted to put on a LRR tire. The only one I could find in that size was the Goodyear Integrity and that was not a very good tire. I then went one size up and saw in the 185/70R14's I could get a Bridgstone P381 or a Michelin Symmetry. As the rating on the Michelin was much higher I went with that one. My first couple of tanks I did not see a noticable differenct but the last couple of tanks were about 2 mpg better than my average. I recomend going to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-rol...sistance_tires and seeing what tires you can get and then looking at the wear rating. Some of the LRR tires don't hold up at all. That makes them less green than a tire that will go twice as long.

There's a link in my sig to a thread about LRR tires with some more modern research than the Wiki. |
