Urban vs extra urban FE

This is confusing me, whats going on!The fuel economy for most cars is rated at a higher value for extra urban than urban, but with my car im noticing the complete opposite! In the city i can pull off about 15 miles per litre and the highway im lucky if i get 10 and im averaging about 12.9 at the moment according to scanaguage. Is the increase in the city dues to the hypermiling techniques?

Yes, hypermiling helps more in the city. This is especially true if you have a sporty car with a low top gear that has the engine spinning rapidly.

How many RPM do you see at high speeds?

I haven't had a way to test for it, but I believe my car gets better FE in non-highway driving.

yes i definitely think it's the case, with my car at least, but with my older toyota corolla 2 litre diesel it was a lot better on the highway! my car now is 16v so i presume its a sportier model. At about 50mph it's definitely under 3000rpm, can't remember the exact number
