where to find EPA ratings for motorcycles?

???

never mind. I searched and found a link, but I don't see my bike. I'll have to just find specs. on the size of my tank and run it dry to the reserve, which might be a little dangerous depending on where it happens, but it'll give me a better idea of how many miles I get until the reserve.

Other people will search and find this thread. For their benefit, you should post the link you found. :)

Why not fill the tank, them empty it into a bucket and measure how much came out to find your capacity? Then you just need to find your MPG, which is easy to do the same way everyone does it, by dividing miles driven since last fill by gallons put in.

nah, I'll probably spill some and residual fuel left in the buck will be lost. I think If I can find the spec. full to reserve is good for me.

Second that.

Harley posts theirs, and I think Suzuki is starting to make theirs easier to see as well. Yamaha wants you to call them to obtain the info. In any case, the numbers are a little less than trustworthy though. It is an EPA-mandated and standardized test that allows the manufacturers to get the numbers, but it measures through emissions, not actual fuel consumption, and so it's really not terribly accurate.

The EPA test for cars also measures through emissions. They've managed to make it pretty accurate.

As it was explained to me (it was through a New Mexico newspaper, IIRC), cars go through 5 different testing cycles where motorbikes only go through one. Hence the inaccuracy.
