Intercooler/preheater

Well this one got a bit expensive and is less effective than expected.

I bought a liquid to air intercooler from https://www.frozenboost.com/ and plumbed it so it runs hot water through it. Just to make sure to cover that question in advance this circulates hot water before the thermostat opens. I am disappointed because the air temp runs 30-40 degrees less than the water. That is twice the temperature difference I expected. Maybe I should have done this with an AC evaporator core. I just ordered an air cleaner and it has not yet arrived. I could not get this plumbed into the stock air cleaner at least for now. It runs 160-170 F IAT. I know that my water flow is backward also but it is a bit space limited.

The engine runs 15-20 degrees cooler with the grill 100% blocked. Fan has not kicked on yet after about 40 miles including some city driving. The IAT warms up quicker but just does not get as hot as I like.

This is a work in progress. Just thought you might like to see it.

so you are using this to heat the air and running it in the opposite way it was designed?

I am certainly using for an opposite purpose. The direction of water flow is really not too important in this case as the water temp drops very little according to my thermometer. This gives me a little more consistent warm air intake than the exhaust heat did.
