Does anyone have any interesting observations from this picture when comparing the civic to the jeep?

Both cars sat overnight and it's 29* right now with a light dusting of snow this morning.

What is in front of the civic(behind you)? Is it just an open yard or building?

One big thing is the lack of grill on the civic helps it hold in heat but you also might have the jeep more in the open helping the civic.

Where does the Civic's heat come from if it hasn't been driven?

Is it just me or is there a wire going into the hood of the civic near the windshield on the driver's side? a block heater perhaps?

Warm enough to melt the snow is pretty impressive. How long had the block heater been plugged in?

approx 2 hours.

how high were your coolant temps when you left after that 2 hour period. were you at the thermostat temp? close? you were obviously putting out a lot of heat by that block heater.

Unfortunately I don't have a scanguage or any instrumentation to measure the coolant temp. Keep in mind the snow was a "dusting."

This is a 400w block heater. In the past when I felt the upper coolant hose it was warm to the touch. When I turn on the car the heater pumps out slightly warm air. The needle is still buried in "C" but starts to move within 2 minutes.

so it basically gives you a head start on the warm up.

that's pretty cool and all that for less than one killowatt hour. nice.

let us know about mileage gains.
