'97 Civic running 14.2 Volts?

My '97 Civic HX runs at 14.2 volts just about always.
Seems a bit high to me.

Can anybody else with a ScanGauge or other good monitor system can tell me what voltage their '97 Civic is running?

Thanks!

Naw, your good. That is right about where mine is as well, car running or course.

That's actually exactly where it's supposed to be. Even with everything on at once it shouldn't dip below 13.5 volts.

Your battery should be running 12.6 volts, however, your alternator should be putting out 14 or so volts.

That's normal, and if it gets lower than that, you should start to worry, because while running, your battery will be draining.

14.2 means good spark output... good spark output means good fuel economy!

Charging system voltage means pretty much nothing in regards to spark output.

Bruce I am pretty sure my 97 HX runs at about 14.5 volts. I will check next time I drive my car.
