LRR Tires: Unorthodox Testing.
Of course this is a legit test... The Japanese guys are wearing lab coats.

Could not understand the language but the moral of the story that I seem to have learned is that big wheels that suddenly fall off from semi-trailers running at high speed can do a lot of damage:D:D. One has to watch the complete video to see what I mean;).
Correct me if I am wrong. |
Worked at a Mercedes dealership in Houston that was hit by a Tractor Trailer Tire. Damage exceeded $65,000 in 1982. Fortunately it happened at night or someone could easily have been killed. One salesmans cubicle was completely demolished.

I would highly recommend watching this as well...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvcwCCWkhBI EDIT: I found this mythbusters video that was interesting to watch as well... Look what they do to a Civic (I think its a Civic) and a Crown Vic... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hakNxO5pME4 |
That was beyond awesome. I could not stop laughing at all the barriers placed to slow the tire down. So awesome.
Okay, we can learn something though. Given 9.8m/s^2 at the angle of the ramp we can see there is a mass to frontal area ratio that the truck tire gets closest to, hence the speed and distance attained. So given certain acceleration, with a LLR tire, once a speed has been attained it is easier to maintain it. okay, I made that not as funny. School; the Buzz Killington. (sometimes) |
