EOC at night
I was just wondering if you guys EOC at night. I just wonder if it will wear out my battery faster having the lights on and EOC. I can still see just fine but the lights do get dim while I EOC. Thoughts?
Thanks |
I don't EOC, but I have shut the engine off @ traffic lights. I do sometimes get scared sitting with my lights on, but I've never had a problem. I do it a lot less frequently at night though.

I do EOC at night. So far, I haven't observed any problems. The car doesn't seem to suffer.
AFAIK, small discharges like that won't wear the battery any more than keeping it full, and modern cars even cycle their alternators on/off and run on the battery when the alternator is off. |
I EOC at night and sit at stoplights with the lights on. Fortunately I have a long commute, so the battery has plenty of time to charge.
I've replaced all running lights with LED's to reduce the drain on the battery. |
as long as its not a 10 mile downhill it should be on..lol.. its actually good for your battery to have deeper discharges sometimes, and also good for the alternator to have to charge it back to a peak state. you definately need to check your battery and alternator before doing this, you can buy a multimeter from radioshack pretty cheap.
