TopGear.com America high mpg project
Hey guys, I'm with TopGear.com America and we're working on a project vehicle I think you'll all find interesting. We used resources on this (and other fuel economy-focused sites) in researching and planning the project, and will continue to do so, so it's only fair that we show what we're up to, right?
The details are still under wraps, but everything will be revealed soon (tomorrow, actually). Feel free to speculate... and there will be opportunities for you all to put in your $0.02. We'll come back and keep you guys updated and (hopefully) entertained. Check it out here; https://www.topgear.com/us/videos/more/wheres-our-nobel/ |
Thanks, there are a lot of American Top Gear fans on this site. I'm sure you'll get a lot of feedback.

COOL! I can't wait! :D

I am averaging 69 MPG in my car over the last 120 miles. How about looking at my in wheel hydraulic Infinitely Variable Transmission as a potential component.

I'd like to place my bet on it being the Alpha Romeo Alfetta turbo 4-cylinder. It's old, it's cheap, and it has a killer shape to work with.

No, its Italian, so they're doing something with a Fiat... ;)

Why does everybody go after the hatchbacks when we all know they're less aerodynamic than the sedans/coupes.. Do they not have a light weight diesel coupe/sedan that they could use instead?

We're pumped to see the effort that went in to your (very educated) guesses. Kudos, obviously, to everyone who said Mk1 with a TDI.
Check out the video of the car in all of it's stock, clanky, stalling glory here; https://www.topgear.com/us/videos/mor...ncy-meets-fun/ And look at the feature, with all the details here; https://www.topgear.com/us/features/m...-a-70-mpg-car/ We'll be back. |
does TGA need any careful drivers to help achieve the goal?
