Wood power: Would it work?

They call it burning, but it sounds more like gasification to me. It's interesting to see new ideas for how to use it, and for sustainability.

Have you tried that yet? What have you tried besides wood?

any dry biomass could work, but there are some size and shape problems so wood blocks work the best.

During WWII, Sweden fueled many of its cars on wood. Im' not sure how a modern EFI car would work on wood gas though.

My grandfather remembers being stationed in Australia during WWII. He says he clearly remembers the cars down there had a large bag to collect the gasses from the burning wood. According to him, there was no gasoline at all.
