Hypermiler show lights equivalent?
I saw a car with all those lights underneath it and some on the wheel itself and was wondering what the hypermiler equivalent would be. I figure it's a realtime display of your instantaneous mpg and trip mpg! Extra credit for it being shown on a spinning wheel using those persistence of vision led strip things.

Sounds illegal, at least in Virginia. Virginia is very strict on vehicle lighting. If you turn on any ground effects, or other lighting in Va expect to get a ticket.

So you don't have all that annoying stuff? Thank goodness! What about over the top bass?

I'm sure you could be nailed on a noise ordinance...
Even when I used to drive an ambulance, and had a personal vehicle equipped with red rotating emergency lights, the laws were very strict as to where they could be located, how many lights, and how bright they were to be. Several of my friends wrote to Richmond with the make and model of their lights so they could have a letter from the state saying that their setup was legal, in case any trooper or deputy tried to give them problems. -Jay |
I don't think instant or average MPG would be illegal. It isn't distracting like blinking lights and stuff.I had thought of doing that a while back.

Somehow I suspected you might have... :)
Rubbernecking might be an issue I guess. |
At least in Virginia it would be illegal. These are illegal in Virginia:

Officially, any license frame is illegal in Texas. I've never heard of any enforcement, though.
