Dog for an apartment

I'm looking for a dog and was wondering if you guys had any ideas on breed? I need a small-medium sized dog(no more than 50 pounds full grown) that can go with me on a daily jog and hiking trails (no rock climbing obviously).

I have two in mind right now. A pocket beagle or an alaskan klee kai. The beagle will most likely need a dog day care since they tend to be very loud when left alone and I don't think I can do two dogs. I've almost 100% decided I want the Klee Kai but figured I would check out what you all had to say.

There are a few that I absolutely will not consider, such as a chihuahua or a miniature pinscher. I don't like yippy dogs and i don't see them being good for long walks or anything.

I can tell you that a dachshund would definitely be the worst dog you could get. IMO they're pretty terrible for anyone, but they especially are the worst for the issues you mention. They're very yippy, except their bark sounds like a bigger dog. They're loud when left alone, or when not left alone. They're totally not any good for jogging, too.
