VX owners,

what's up with the temp inside the hatchback. I've had mine for just a month and have noticed that it gets extremely hot inside when out in the sun for just a few minutes. I have a black interior. Could it be the replacement windshield? Have y'all made any modifications to keep the temp down, besides those windshield reflectors and a/c. I'm glad my a/c is working.

they make a cheesy fan that you can put in your window that is solar powered that will circulate air in your car when you aren't in it. you roll down your window and put this in it and roll the window up on it which leaves a small opening so that the air can circulate.

my description is bad but if you can find the product, it may make better sense. I have never used it but the concept makes sense.

I had one of those fans. It was worthless. Maybe it was just mine that sucked, though.

Mine was worthless too!

I guess I was thinking more along the lines of something like "special"
glass for the windshield or insulation in the roof(?). Not something that would have to installed and removed constantly. thanks

Well, you could tint the windows dark, but that brings on a whole set of problems. Laws vary but it's mostly illegal to tint the front side windows, illegal everywhere to tint the windshield, and other windows could be illegal to tint in some states too. Besides illegality, you'll look like a hoodlum driving a heavily tinted old Civic.

It may be possible to get a windshield with an anti-glare coating.

I think mainly you're stuck with manually blocking off the windows with shades or using a fan of some sort.

few things:

consumer reports rated those clip on window fan things crap (poor) as all it did was move around hot air. (DO NOT BUY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE)

those windshield shades help ALOT not to mention saves your interir some from dryrot from the sun. i HIGHLY recomend them especially the shiny foil ones.

window tint also help alot, but different states have different regulations. i would NOT go any darker than 5% its great during the day but at night if your trying to back up/change lanes its bad. i would suggest 20% tint (20% is like the ammount of light it lets in) its dark enough during the day to actually do something but not so dark at night its hard to drive.

I use a pop-open windshield block, and I use temporary foldup shades on the rear side windows since I have kids. It does well to cut down the interior temps. I have a thermometer inside and without the blinds the interior temps hit 125?F pretty quick on an 80?F day. with all things in place the temps stay down around 100?F.
