My saturn impressed me today

Well, i'll start of saying that before today I hated this 2000 saturn sl1. I bought it, and promptly gave it to my g/f after a week of driving it.. way to slow for me.
My car broke down, so i took the saturn to get some parts.. I filled the tank up till the nozzle clicked off, pushed the odometer and left on my trip. I returned home after 474.5 miles went to the same pump i used earlier that day, pumped gas untill the nozle clicked off, 10.5 gallons. 45.1 miles per gallon! I was excited, because i was NOT driving slow.. I averaged about 75-80mph both ways. I wonder what I would have gotten going 65?

Very nice! I've seen other Saturns on this forum also getting good mpg.

I'm thinking about getting an udp for it, possibly lower the car too.. it sits like a truck anyway..lol and see if one of my sets of light aluminum wheels will fit on it. I dont want to do any aero mods.. imo they look goofy. Ide just like to hit the magic number of 50mpg freeway.

If you got 45.1 running 75-80 MPH running it 55 MPH on the highway would probably get you over the magic number of 50 MPG.

Saturn SL is definitely a sleeper for fuel economy. While it does poorer than a 92'-'95 Civic 1.5 Manual 4 door in the city, it does exactly the same on the highway despite the 1.9L engine..
