90 civic dpfi & d15b6 anyone?

anyone try dpfi and a d15b6? I have a standard 1990 and after 270k miles I'm putting it's engine to rest. The transmission has been switched out for a 5 speed one a couple years back so I was thinking of keeping that. It helped with fuel economy.. went from 33mpg to somewhere close to 40mpg. Not sure where it came from, my mechanic found it and I said yes..

anyway.. I wanted to throw a d15b6 (the old HF) engine in there see if I could do any better mpg wise.. but having a hard time figuring out from Google searches if this would work.. (keeping the current 5 speed transmission and dpfi).. anyone have any thoughts if this is a worthwhile change?

Thanks!
Erick

I don't see any benefit. in fact i though people switched from dpfi to mpfi because of increased efficiency. Why not just use everything that came with the d15b6 including the intake?
