Kind of skirting Aerodynamics
I finally installed my rear wheel skirts. I know I took my sweet time getting this installed.

It totally changes the whole look of the car. It looks like it belongs. I like it.
|
can it easily be removed?
I have always worried about doing all of that and then getting a flat, having to rip it all off and having to start over. that is if I made it in such a way that it could easily be taken off. I have a bad habbit of making things very permanent. |
I think I'm going to try industrial velcro on mine when I get there.
|
I used removable plastic rivets there are 4 on each skirt and they come off in less than 30 sec.
|
I take it they have to be replaced every time you remove them?
I thought about these fasteners that were qtr turn but then my time became very valuable to me. the car went to the back burner. my wheels stick out slightly past the wheel well in the back so it would be difficult for me. yours look pretty good. |
the rivets have a pin in the center that will release them, they are reusable.
|
ok, I used to have something like that holding on the interior of my metro.
the reusable part was what I was missing. can you get some pics of the attachment method and of the fit and finish? I doubt I'll ever get around to it but I said the same about the WAI and the grill block. the attachment method has always bothered me on this particular modification. |
here is a closer shot of the left skirt the fit isn't perfect but it's not bad either
I used some 1/4 x 3/4 aluminum to get the curve https://www.fuelly.com/attachments/fo...adfc66e15c.jpg |
the black coroplast doesn't look bad at all.
you could possibly replace it with plexi later on that is painted with a glossy black. you can sand the curve to better suite...that is, if you care I have found that lately, I don't care as much about appearance. the installation now looks pretty good ...and I like plexi-glass |
