"Start Your Engines!" versus Seafoam

Saw an ad for a product called "Start Your Engines" fuel system revitalizer by a company called Gold Eagle.

Was wondering if anyone has tried it?

Is it made from the same stuff as Seafoam?

(perhaps we need an "additives" subforum ...?)

Not like Seafoam at all.

Start Your Engines!? is the easy, 1-step fuel system revitalizer. Perfect for users who forget to use STA-BIL? in the off season, this additive restores volatility to stale fuel and removes gum and varnish from fuel system components.
I imagine it is closer to white gas than anything else.

i don't like ANY additives myself. SNAKE OIL!

modern fuels have detergents in them already. when was the last time you heard of a clogged injector? well maybe save an old old car with silly high mileage running the crappiest cheapest fuel the owner can find...

only additives i use are for a particular purpose and those are next to none. for example, slip friction modifier for oil in a LSD differential.

I'm anti-additive as well. I believe if you keep your vehicle well maintained, and use quality fluids you should not need additives. The only additives I will use are fuel line antifreeze if needed in the winter, Sta-Bil in the tank of my 1 ton van that only goes about 200 miles/year, and if I suspect a dirty fuel system I'll use a bottle of BG 44k, because I do use the cheapest fuel available (The only one I won't buy is Citgo, and that's mainly for political reasons)

Whats wrong with citgo, I would rather buy that than exxonmobil anyday.
There enviromental record is way better than most brands.
Behind_the_Logos
check out exxonmobil

He's very obviously against us. Most importantly I do not purchase Citgo because Chavez has said that he could use the price of oil as a weapon against the United States. I choose to not send him any money.

?Those who want to go directly to hell can follow capitalism... and those of us who want to build heaven here on earth will follow socialism.?

"And the Devil (Bush) came here yesterday. Yesterday the Devil came here. Right here. [crosses himself] And it smells of sulphur still today."

"What the little gentleman (Bush) from the north now exudes is the smell of political death and in a very short time he will be converted into cosmic dust and disappear from the stage."

"Yesterday, ladies and gentlemen, from this rostrum, the president of the United States, the gentleman to whom I refer as the Devil, came here, talking as if he owned the world. Truly. As the owner of the world."

"You are ignoramus, you are a burro, Mr Danger... or to say it to you in my bad English: [switching languages] You are a donkey, Mr Danger. You are a donkey, Mr George W Bush."

"You are a coward (George Bush) , a killer, a [perpetrator of] genocide, an alcoholic, a drunk, a liar, an immoral person, Mr Danger. You are the worst, Mr Danger. The worst of this planet... A psychologically sick man, I know it."

"Remember, little girl, I'm like the thorn tree that flowers on the plain. I waft my scent to passers-by and prick he who shakes me. Don't mess with me, Condoleezza. Don't mess with me, girl."

"I give you a replica of liberator Simon Bolivar's sword. For you who, like Bolivar, took up arms to liberate your people. For you who, like Bolivar, are and will always be a true freedom fighter. [Mugabe] continues, alongside his people, to confront the pretensions of new imperialists."

"Just look at the internal repression inside the United States, the Patriot Act, which is a repressive law against U.S. citizens. They have put in jail a group of journalists for not revealing their sources. They won't allow them to take pictures of the bodies of the dead soldiers, many of them Latinos, coming from Iraq. Those are signs of Goliath's weaknesses."

"Go to hell, gringos! Go home!...What does the empire want? Condoleezza said it. How are you? You?ve forgotten me, missy...Condoleezza said it clearly, it?s about creating a new geopolitical map in the Middle East...They took out Saddam Hussein and they hung him, for better or worse. It?s not up to me to judge any government, but that gentleman was the president of that country."

This sounds correct

"In April 2001, the world's green parties agreed to launch an international boycott against ExxonMobil in protest against the company's alleged role in getting George W. Bush elected and its activities in campaigning against the Kyoto Protocol on global warming. "

"ExxonMobil, who has reportedly set no targets for reductions in CO2 emissions, has confirmed that its greenhouse gas emissions rose 2% in 2003 to 135.6 million tons. Exxon’s worsening emissions may be caused, in part, by an increase of flaring of gas in Nigeria. Flaring, which is illegal in most countries, is when natural gas is extracted simultaneously with oil and burned off straight into the atmosphere. Exxon’s emissions are more than 50% higher than their closest competitor’s, despite only a slightly larger production of oil and gas."

"ExxonMobil is a leader in using its profits to buy political influence. In return, ExxonMobil has benefited from, among other things, over $5 billion in taxpayer subsidies over the last decade."

In 2005, Global Exchange named Chevron Corporation one of "The 14 Worst Corporate Evildoers", citing the companies extensive environmental and human rights abuses.

"ChevronTexaco is involved in a lawsuit in Ecuador which charges the company with destroying land through massive dumping of highly toxic wastewater and crude oil over a 20 year period. On May 6, 2003 attorneys representing more than 30,000 Ecuadorian rainforest peoples filed suit in Lago Agrio, a small oil town in Ecuador's Oriente region. If found liable, the damages could be greater than than the $5 billion dollars rewarded in the Exxon Valdez disaster"

You don't like Chavez because he is willing to speak out against a tyrannous gov't.
Most of the world does not like us he is the only one who will say it.
I don't like Bush and Exxon because they are distroying our world and killing people.

GasSavers_RoadWarrior 09-09-2009 05:04 AM

And all along I thought these oil companies were just nice people trying to scrape a living ... :D

But anyway, on additives, a bottle of isopropyl alcohol and a bottle of mineral spirits or "Varsol" is about all you'll ever need. IPA for antifreeze, bad gas, "emissions cleaner" octane booster etc etc, varsol for injector cleaning and decarbonising.

jmf 09-09-2009 04:08 PM

I haven't noticed a differance after i've used the seafoam. I agree with Jay additives are not a replacement for good maintainance.

bowtieguy 09-09-2009 04:26 PM

i'm most certainly w/ jay, on both accounts!
