Carolinas Efficiency Rally

Classes:

Modern. This class is for any vehicle built after 1984 any make or model may enter this class.

Vintage. This class id for vehicles built before 1984 any make or model may enter this class providing they fall in this age range

Rules:

Cars/trucks may be altered to improve aerodynamics. gearing may be changed (basically anything goes)
Each participating vehicle will be filled to the brim or to where fuel is visible in the filler neck. the fuel cap will be sealed by means of a piece of blue painters tape across the cap/fuel door. Each car will then drive the course (a map of the course will be made available several days before the event) at or below the posted speed limit. Upon completion of the course each car will be refilled as they were at the beginning of the event and milage will be calculated.

Awards:

Best MPG.
awards will be given in each class for the top 3 competitors

Best % over EPA.
This award will be given to the top 3 vehicles who bettered their EPA rating. (this award unfortunately is for Modern class only due to the difficulty in finding EPA ratings for some vintage vehicles)

Best Over All.
This will be given to the participant who achieved the best milage in the event.

Entry:

Any car/truck may enter. All Modern class cars must enter the EPA rating of the vehicle to be entered in the % challenge.

I have about a 100mile route planned.

I will attempt to put together a mid OCT trial run I will need 5 volunteers to see if this will actually work. Like I said a trial run. if it works I'll start organizing for a spring time event (there is better gas in spring) and we'll have a go. entry in the actual event shouldn't exceed $25 per car and we'll limit the entries to just 30 to keep traffic problems to a minimum. Cheering squads are free

this is the planned route
Route

this will combine hills city and highway type speeds and some lovely scenery

OK folks October 17th we will be holding a trial run of the MPG rally this will be a free event all you need to participate is a car, truck or bike and some money for gas. we will meet at the Shell station across from UNCC on 49 where each tank will be brimmed. Each car will be sent out at 1 minute intervals . the end of the rally is at the same shell station where the tanks will be brimmed again and we will calculate milage on the fuel used. This will be for bragging rights so no charge to participate. For practical reasons we need to limit participants to 5-10 total.

PM me if you will be attending.
