Providence RI is the one-way city. All the roads in Providence are one-way, leading away from my destination. Wherever I need to go always ends up being the hub of the starts of a dozen one-way streets with no street leading into it, obviously cars are air-lifted to the location so they can drive on those streets...

Sounds like Paris.

They normally drive on the right side of the road in Lima, Peru. Our guide showed us a three block section of road in Lima where they routed traffic to the LEFT side of the road, and then back to the right side again, for no reason whatsoever.

There's a section of Interstate 5 just north of Castaic, CA where the northbound lanes is on the left (with north at the top of the map) and the southbound lanes are on the right. Goes like this for several miles, then switches back.

As for 'Frisco, it's been like that since the '70s. So what?

I had to google it. According to https://www.westcoastroads.com/califo...-005nh_ca.html it's because of the lay of the land to make the grades easier to climb.

Haha... The week or so I spent in Vermont introduced me to a new driving surface: state-maintained dirt roads. I was told they break up, grade and re-compress them every month and a half or so to fix the ruts and eroded areas. And I thought asphalt was labor-intensive. :eek:

D.C. has 2 one way streets, followed by a two way street, then another one way going in the opposite direction, or sometimes, the one way street will end and go the other way. If you drive D.C. you need a GPS, drove the first year without one and a paper map, that was hell.

Lived in San Francisco for 4 years, Geary will get you anywhere or Market, but take a GPS, just to be on the safe side. Lived in the city twice, then in Berkeley, in the city, when I would come home at night, I would spend an average of 45 minutes finding a place to park, then walk 8 blocks home. That was until I got an apartment with a garage, heaven.
