Well I'm comparing the gas mileage between this stock civic and my crx.
So far the civic is getting unbelievable gas mileage, 1/2 highway, 1/2 city driving.
312kms @ half a tank. :D

My Crx would normally get around 220kms half a tank city driving, and around 310kms highway driving,
although my crx has a K&N Filter, headers, exhaust and 268,000 kms..
Gas tank capacity is 44 litres, I usually fill up @ empty 38 litres...

Well I finished my engine bay detail.. took about 4 days total.

I used WD-40 and a paintbrush and 4 microfiber towels.
Works amazing on 20 year old buildup of dirt and rustproofing. No joke. =)
Car had been sitting for 10+ years.. Buildup of rustproofing and dust on it takes its toll.
Car has 105,000 kms (60,000 miles)

Holds up much better than OEM wrinkle flat black enamel.

What F...are you for real. It looks like you steam clean it. Man I need to do that to my VX too. So WD-40 and just brush it for 4 days right LOL.

I would like to know more about this WD40 + paint brush stuff.

I've done google searches and read lots of "detail tips" on other forums specifically looking for people who use WD40 and a paint brush and have found zero results.

EDIT: Truth is, I now know every car forum you're on though... because all the results were your threads. /EDIT

I'm very anal about how clean I keep all my engines and to date the best I've found is any assortment of brake cleaners, engine degreasers, and just plain dawn dish soap with a rag. I can NEVER get the cast intake manifolds or valve covers to release the grime beneathe the texture like you've done to your intake manifold.

Be completely honest with us, there was no pressure washer/steam cleaner involved in this? I'm perplexed.... and jealous.

I spent the better part of 2 days scrubbing the engine/bay of my turbo Miata while I was finishing up the hardware install and it looks about 1/3 as good as your Civic. Not to mention I probably absorbed into my skin enough chemicals to cause cancer at least 10 years sooner than the WD40 method would've.

Well, now that I read through your Honda-Tech forum writeup I understand it a big more. There was a lot of new parts that went into it as well, I knew the motor mount, but was hoping the radiator and hardware was all wd-40 and maybe some time on a buffer (hardware).

Now I want to go home and really get into the Camaro since it's been the most neglected over the past 2 years I have only had the hood up to disconnect/connect the battery for jogs around the block occasionally.

Okay, not to call you a liar but I just tried to clean an intake manifold for about 30 minutes in one spot (with a paint brush and WD40) and it never came close to the luster of yours.

Yes, a lot of the grime came out, more so than w/ a rag and solvents... but somethings not adding up!

Show some pics of what you are trying to clean on the manifold...
My manifold was already clean.. just a lil dusty.
The real dirt was around the shock towers and around the engine bay.

PS: Why would I lie about this ? I have nothing to gain in doing so.... :rolleyes:
