new car surprise gas saver
I picked this car up to be used as a race car but it shocked me with the milage it gets. I drove from Charlotte NC to Atlanta GA to pick this car up. This trip was 210 miles one way. My wagon only managed 31mpg for this trip. I picked up the new race car and drove it back 210 miles and it burned 5 gallons just 5  this from a hard riding corner burning turbo charged race car. OK enough blather on to the photos.

Wow - 42mpg from a race car? Excellent!

is the intercooler not hooked up?
what exactly is that. I can see it is a subaru |
its a Subaru RX ( a rather rare model)
|
No intercooler makes for an easy HAI.
|
buddy of mine said it looks like it came off of a turbo coupe (ford thunderbird)
I assume it is an added feature of the car that never really got implemented I'd keep it as a daily driver |
I'm just waiting to cut the pipes for the intercooler.... and its off of an SVO

I think we are talking about the same motor but a different car. he is working on putting his in a mustang. I suggested putting it on the front but he said that it would increase lag time. he is having issues with the hood as it has no scoop.
it will make a good and fun little hypermiler. I would keep it and just hook everything up, stay out of boost during regular driving, and have the dirty little secret incase someone wants to mess with you. |
that is the plan hehehe
|
We had a 4 door version (GL-10) that provided us with high 30's as an average, not all highway, but an average over it's lifetime. However, ours was an '85 manual with single range final drive, only part-time 4wd (because of no center diff), and no limited slip rear diff.
You might wish to put the spare tire carrier back in the car as it functions as a strut tower brace. I think it can be used even with that intercooler that has been added. |
