Why, Why, Why

I've been lucky. In all my years i've only had two vehicles that have had to have body work and partially painted on the exterior. The work was done at different body shops. In both instances the inside of the car/truck was returned with a strong solvent smell inside. WHY is this happening?

It sat in the body shop and the paint fumes were absorbed into the seats and interior plus shen they painted the body the paint takes a while to vent all the solvents espically if they didn't bake the finish with heat lamps.

Mine came back full of dust from the body shop and you can imagine a black very textured cloth interior and fully carpeted with deep textured plastic dash covered with dirt traping holes.

well depending how they fixed it the stuff smell is inside the car as no car is airtight. theres no way around it. also the paint smell from the shop floats into your car and settles into the seats, vents, etc
