165/70/R13 tire question
 

Probably a bit late to ask this question, and hopefully this is not a dumb question: Will these tires fit my stock 89 Civic DX 13" wheels? I know the VX had 165's (I currently have 170's)and so I wanted to do the same on my DX but do not have the VX wheels. I'm running the VX engine and am trying to maximize the fuel economy by ordering some LLR tires in the original VX size.

Yes, they should fit the stock 13" steelies, though their overall diameter will be a fraction of an inch smaller than the specified 175/70-13s. Since you're sacrificing the size of the contact patch under each tire, at least make sure the UTQG is A A or AA A. If you go with some crappy tire compound, it will be exceedingly easy to slide into the rear end of a car that stops hard or off of a curve in the rain. I assure you that whatever you save in gas costs will be a drop in the bucket compared to buying a replacement car.

Those tires probably will fit (though I don't know for certain the width of the rim for the VX compared to the steelies). Why not just pickup a set of VX rims? The gains from the smaller tires won't be enough to justify their purchase. Also tires of that size are usually odd in that they're not commonly made by the bigger manufacturers which means you won't necessarily get their latest technology. You'll see more gains if you just get the appropriate rims. It's easier to sell your existing rims if they still have decent tires on them, so I'd get some VX rims if you can.

Also buy vx wheel to maximise your MPG.
