25,000 Miles. How far the Amsoil Synthetic motor oil and Amsoil Ea oil filter went.

This is DEFINITELY on the topic of hypermiling. I moved the thread to the appropriate forum.

Amsoil is one of my favorite items to use in a vehicle. I'd like to get the dual oil filter relocator added to the CRX in the spring.

shatto,

do you leave your truck running during your deliveries or shut it off every time?

A lot of people are dubious about AmsOil's 25k claim...but I've heard it from many sources and recommended whenever I can.

Too bad they don't have the ZDDP for my flat tappets :(

I would be interested in the filter specs - the AC filter for my Synlube is no longer manufactured (2003) and I got the very last one that they had in stock. 5 micron full flow cartridge ACDelco UltraGuard Gold UPFL400A

I've been using ZDDP-plus in my Buick. I can't say for sure that it helped, but I can say that my cam is still fine...

Amsoil's series 2000 oil claims a 35k mile(or 1 year) interval under normal operating conditions. so, under even the worst conditions, i'd say most drivers would be safe changing it annually. under "those conditions", it is very cost and time effective as well!

I've heard of the ZDDPlus, sounds like a pretty good way to go with synthetics. I've also had Redline synthetics recommended to me, but I haven't read up on their ZDDP content. For the time being, Rotella 15-dub-40 seems to be working fine and yielding record FE for me :)

bobc455 12-01-2009 04:58 AM

From what I'd heard, Rotella has now also decreased the amount of ZDDP in their oils. They were one of the last to do so.

Personally, I wouldn't run any oil 25K.

Redline is excellent. Their base oils are predominately group 5 esters, and most of their formulations contain gobs of zinc and moly anti-wear additives.
