Mount Diablo, from Buchannan Field (Concord Airport). Snow line 300 to 500 feet in Bay Area.
Usually the cloud-covered part is snowy in winter.

31 aint cold LOL

wait till its -20*F and 20+ mph winds THEN thats on the cold side.

I stood outside for an hour on Sunday when it was 36?F and very windy. I forgot what "cold" meant until then.

By the end of the winter I'll be wearing shorts and a T-shirt in 40?...

Same here. By the end of winter 40F is shorts & T-shirt weather.

31 is colder than I like...
Cold is when the car thermometer is showing 6 degrees outside, and the heater doesn't work...
Cold is riding a motorcycle at 65 on the freeway on Christmas night, stopping and feeling rather toasty and warm, then looking at a time/temperature display on a bank and seeing 32 degrees...
Cold is when I stop by the edge of Big Bear Lake, and find that, yes, I really
CAN walk on water! (It was frozen...)
Cold is camping in the winter, wearing thin soled street shoes, a sleeping bag that is rated for about 75 degrees ABOVE zero...(and it's 10 or so outside), and the car barely turns over in the morning.

Cold was showering, changing into civvies and leaving for a night out in Inchon and.....by the time I crossed the deck and was walking down the ramp of the LCU....my hair was frozen solid.

That's pretty dang cold. But...at least your hair would stay combed...:)

Having lived in San Francisco for 4 years, I remember 34 degrees in winter with wind and humidity making the cold soak right through your clothing coming off the water. I have family and friends out there, as soon as I get the transfer Im moving back. Course here in Baltimore, I'v seen minus 4 and 11 degrees, ice storms, four feet of snow, that's cold, I'll trade a California winter any day.

:)
Here is a proper California Christmas, as described by Irving Berlin...from the rarely heard first verse of White Christmas:

The sun is shining, the grass is green
The orange and palm trees sway,
There's never been such a day
In Beverly Hills, L.A.

But it's December the 24th
And I am longing to be up north.

The lyrics in red...what was he thinking? Why would anyone want to leave LA on 12/24?

Wow...I grew up in the South Bay (Milpitas) and I can remember only twice in the 20 years I was there where it hit freezing or below. Strange stuff!
