I know this have been asked many times and thought I'll just take my chances and getting one.

I bought that one and it worked fine.

The first one. Look at the list of Honda part numbers... See the one with P07 in the middle? VX-specific parts will often have that middle string in their number.

I don't know of any other Civic VX concern that is so littered with confusion, misinformation and outright fraud than that of O2 sensor replacement. Call me a cynic but, as tempting as it may be, I cannot find much support for jmf's no-name $99.99 unit. "Worked fine" is relative. Simply unplug your malfunctioning (or functioning, for that matter) sensor and your Civic will "work fine" too. If you're willing to tolerate a potential 40% (!) drop in efficiency.
A quick search shows that we have many, many threads on the subject without any definitive results or recommendations. Only wish I had the time to become the authority on this subject. Any member with sufficient personal experience willing to weigh in? |
This gaslog has one entry after installation on 11/20/2008:
https://www.gassavers.org/garage/viewgaslog/2260 Looks good there. One entry isn't enough, though. jmf, who posted earlier in this thread, appears to have installed one around the same time and has a couple dozen gaslog entries after that: https://www.gassavers.org/garage/viewgaslog/2402 I know that plenty of people have bought it. Anyone who has, post up... |
To all,
Re-reading my post I see how one might take offense or be put off by my tone. Certainly this was not my intent. I am more than pleased with this site. A great majority of posts are informed and informative. All seem to be well intended. jmf has offered kind and helpful responses to many seeking assistance. I have no reason to believe jmf's recommendations are in any way misleading or self-serving. I am thankful for any and all feedback regarding this important matter. Best wishes, Miser |
Claims that go unchallenged go unsupported. We must check up on things like this from time to time or else we could be giving bad advice.
