Hello guys and girls of GasSavers. I just have a question concerning the mpguino https://opengauge.org/mpguino/ . If you have one in your car, how does this thing really work. I believe it shows the mpg on the screen as you drive right. So do you just try to keep the highest MPG on the screen as you drive on the freeway. Example: 55 mph (screen show 47 mpg) 60 mph (screen show 50 mpg) 65 mph ( screen show 46 mpg ) So in this case you would chose to go 60 mph for the best mpg. Any reply would be appreciated. Thanks

If all you're getting is instant MPG, that's useful but additional information can be even more useful. As described in your example, you are correct that you'd choose 60mph there.

The MPGuino is mainly for people with pre obdII cars. 1996 and earlier. I think there may be an obdII version now though.

You do have to tap into your wiring harness for an injector lead, a vehicle speed sensor lead and program those values into the unit so it's not plug and play. But then, it's cheap and it's the only thing going for pre obdII vehicles.

It has a variety of screens, not just instant mpg.:

The scanguage has more features but it's a lot pricier.

Thanks for the reply everybody, it was very helpful. So there's more to it than just the big MPG on the screen. So since it's pre obdII, will it works on my 92 civic vx?

It ought to work on almost any fuel-injected vehicle, whether OBDII or not. The only reason not to use it on OBDII is that your money could be spent better on something like a ScanGauge.

I have a MPGuino on my 92 VX. Works great and is very accurate. I made the guino myself so I can't comment on the one you buy. But I did use the program and circuit diagram as supplied on the website.
Using 269113500 for the usec/gallon parameter.
