I have a 2000 Chrysler Voyager 3.3 Liter flex-fuel Mini Van, short wheel base. No roof rack. I removed the last row of seats. I drive mostly in city. But I do travel to Baltimore, MD regularly. I drive gently but don't do the extreme hyper mile methods. I also wonder if the ECM can detect higher octane since E-85 is 105 Octane i believe. I'm curious about other flex-fuel users and their results. I'm headed down to Balt. today going to try prem 93 oct. for the whole trip and keeping the speed low like 60 - 62 MPH.:thumbup:

E-85 will still yield you less overall mileage. we have had this discussion before here and E-10 which you can run in any vehicle always yields less mileage.

there was a guy that said that E-85 could do better if it were at a higher compression ratio but you wouldn't be able to run pump gas then. it would have to be E-85 only.

just as an assumption, I'm pretty sure you will see better mileage with the pump gas (regardless of octane rating)

Welcome. I have no experience with E-85, but my daughter's family owns a Caravan with the 3.3 L engine. She and I drove it from Montgomery, AL to Biloxi, MS last December, about 250 miles each way.

She drove down at 80 mph, used over 12 gallons of gas, and averaged 21.45 mpg. I drove back at 62 mph, used between 9 and 10 gal. gas, and averaged over 26 mpg,

There is no benefit to using premium fuel in unmodified cars that don't specify premium.
