More granular vehicle groupings?

Suggestion: Could similar cars to mine be classified not only by year, but also by transmission type (Auto or Manual) and engine size? By eliminating these variables, this would really help narrow down the mileage I "could" be getting. Thanks!! Love Fuelly btw!

This is on our road map and will be introduced ASAP. We are currently working on a new foundation for our "back end" which will be able to handle this more granular data and normalize the input process.

This "granularity" might turn out to have unintended consequences. At its ultimate limit, it would include only one vehicle.

Something else comes to mind. Some diesel vehicles require Diesel Engine Fluid (DEF) every so often. That DEF has a cost and it a consumable just like the fuel. Should there be a method of adding that into the fueling process? Or should it be treated like oil changes?

Charon,

Our goal will be to show things from a combined level and then let people view more granular from there. We already do this but the drop downs are not logical enough and we can do better.

Thanks for the feedback on DEF. I just sent a note to the developers to make sure we can account for that. We're planning to account for additives anyway so this will sort of function in the same way and should only show up for Diesel owners. It's certainly part of the total cost of ownership data.

Andy
